Product Import

To ease the product creation process, OLOTech's web software allows to import entire products or products specifications.

Two import sources exist:

Another product already defined in OLOTech;
An Excel file with product specifications.

To import specifications from another product, simply goes to the specification and click on Import, next to the add button. You will be asked for the source product.

The following sections describes how to import information from an Excel file.

UPC/EAN13 bar code import

Generalities (Back to product import)

All information imports requires specific columns headers. If a required column is missing or mistyped the file will not be recognised as valid.
The import file must be closed prior to the import.
Unless otherwise noted, all fields must be defined.
Empty rows in an excel file will be recognised as an invalid file.
When deleting a row in Excel, do not delete the fields, but delete the complete row instead. Data-deleted rows will be recognised as empty entries and will be recognised as an invalid file.
Data of columns with a yes/no value can be entered either by text (in the recognised languages of OLOTech) or by numeral (1/0)
Make sure that at any given time a column contains only numbers or text. For example: a size specification of 1.125 and 1.250" will import blank values.
All data that refers to a list (category, season, currency, ... ) must be defined AND active prior to the import.
About the templates available

- The worksheet name can be customized freely
- You can combine different specifications in a single file by using different sheets.

Product (Back to product import)

Unlike the specification import, you use the left-hand menu Import option to create a new product or update an existing product. This function is used only to import master products or stand-alone products. Version creation is done using the duplicate menu option.

You can import a file in text (tab separated) or in Excel format.

UPC/EAN13 bar code import

If you select the OLOTech format, you are able to import UPC or EAN13 barcodes for your existing products. After the import, the barcodes will be recognised throughout the software.
